When Bob Krause turned 90 last week, it was by virtue of an unflagging determination and a mentality of precision that kept his body humming after being diagnosed with diabetes as a boy.
A leading diabetes research center named the San Diego resident the first American known to live 85 years with the disease, a life that has paralleled — and benefited from — the evolution in treatment.
I am going on my eve walk right now…will not read the SF story till later … I am sooo impressed reading the headline , I had to mention !! This gives one HOPE.
What an Amazing Man! I’m almost speechless. He even looks healthy. Interesting that he was taking shots with each meal while in the urine testing era. I wonder where and how they learned how to calculate his doses. We were not told to do this. Most Kids took one or too shots a day only. I agree…the meter has been the Lifesaver since Insulin. I’m Sad for his Brother Jackie but Grateful for Bob and his long Life story. Thank you for posting this Manny. I’m in Awe!
Wow! What an inspiration! Wish I could contact him to send my congratulations. Hopefully someone who knows him will be able to do so.
A very interesting article. Only mistake I could see was that the writer says that type 1 is when the body does not produce “enough insulin” but we know that it produces none. Other than that, very good.
