Medicaid!

What insulin pumps are covered by medicaid? I have united healthcare medicaid.
I want the medtronic 530g

My understanding is that Medicaid can be different with each state. I think that it is difficult to get CGM coverage with Medicaid, but not impossible. Once again, it depends on your state.

Medicaid is my secondary ins, but I just got a tslim and after a little bit of effort a dexcom

Do you know if medicaid covers Tslim by any chance?

I saw on dexcom.com that they don’t take medicaid :frowning: I really would love the dexcom!!

Like I said medicaid is my secondary insurance but it covered everything my BCBS didn’t. And both were approved for me.

So medicaid covered some of your dexcom?

I have Optima Health Medicaid as my secondary insurance and they paid for my Medtronic 530g and I just upgraded to the dexcom g4 because the warranty was up on my Medtronic cgm and I didn't like it and they paid for that also with no problems.

I just got my Accu Chek Combo and am on Medicare & New York Medicaid.

It covered half. My primary insurance is 50% co-insurance after the deductible has been met and I didn’t pay anything out of pocket.

You can find your states Medicaid PDL (Preferred Drug List) by doing an internet search. Just type in STATE NAME MEDICAID PDL. This will give a full list of what is covered. Some pumps may need a pre-authorization which would require a letter to Medicaid from your doctor.

I qualified for a pump because of my c-peptide test. My pump was purchased for me by a program in my area. I will own it after one year. Medicare, not medicaid, pays for pump supplies. There is a limit on the amount of supplies one can get each month. Talk to the reps for the pumps. Whomever is most helpful will get your business. I really like the reps for my pump. They have been there for me. I did not qualify for very many hours of education, which is covered separately. So the reps came out and worked with me. They gave me their phone numbers.
