Medical Alert ID for Type 2 - Needed?

My PCP asked if I had one. I answered that I never thought I needed one. I take Metformin and one Levemir injection/day. Any other T2's feel the need for an ID?

Yup -- you do.

Knowing you're diabetic in the ER, or during emergency surgery, should you be unconscious after an accident or something, is critically important.

Thanks for the little push Dave. Broke down and got one.

Full disclosure: I lost mine months ago, and have been dragging my feet getting a new one. Your post got me on the MedicAlert site to order a replacement.

So we helped each other

Really glad to hear. Funny how things work out sometimes. But, really appreciate you taking the time to steer me in the right direction.

I have one, it's by RoadID, and I love it. I've already had 2 people in the medical field comment on it and like that it has lots of info. I use an insulin pump, so to me wearing a medical alert ID is really important. I wouldn't want and EMT or ER nurse to mistake it for a cell phone or pager, and rip-out my infusion set. I hope you never need your ID, but I'd hate to not have one when needed.

I've seen the RoadID's. Some of the people I've riden with had them. Very nice and room for a lot of info. The ID I got has a lot less space for info. I just had the minimum put on it - Type 2 Insulin. Hope it's enough if I ever need it.
