The claims I have heard is that the G7 will be about the size of an M&M, far less expensive than previous versions, disposable and initially scheduled availability in about 1 year from now.
I remember hearing I think they were going to try to incorporate the transmitter with the sensor at some point? Similar to Libre.
That’s what I heard also–xmitter and sensor all-in-one. How they do that cheaper is beyond me. Time will tell.
I sit here waiting for a replacement receiver. A bit ago, a delivery truck came to the house but alas it was an item from Amazon for my wife.
In the UK they pay $159 a month for a Dexcom G6. They are not covered by any insurance over there as their national insurance doesn’t cover Dexcom so they have to self fund.
So obviously the “cost” of the G6 is cheaper in the first place.
Doesn’t surprise me one bit.
- I have been using the G5 for six years.
So I am some one who know the PRODUCT.
Besides the old adhesive issue , there have been reported accuracy issues, some to high some to low
That is what I was referring to as bug fixes.
Don’t be quick to assume that just because you have had no issues that others haven’t .
Obviously, you don’t know the product at all if you’ve never used the G6. I’m not assuming anything, I’m stating a FACT that you don’t have any experience with the G6(by your own admission) so you have absolutely no credibility as to what “bugs” the system has.
Having a CGM, like having a house, a car, a cell phone, or virtually any other sophisticated item in life guarantees that you will have issues with those items. The bottom line is if the benefits outweigh the issues, you keep it, If not, you replace it or go without.
He’s had no issues, because he’s never used the ■■■■■■■ thing!
Getting G6 supplies direct from Dex is true. Medicare will pay for it @CJ114.
I’m in the middle of what has been a painful process with Dex as my direct supplier, but there might finally be light at the end of the tunnel (or an approaching train).
I migrated to the G6 (from the G4) one month prior to turning 65 and becoming a Medicare “beneficiary”. FWIW, in my case it makes no sense for Dex to temporarily supply me with a G5, only to move me back to the G6 in a few months.

Good luck convincing them to send you a G6. As far as this forum has heard, nobody on Medicare has received a G6, and until Dexcom/Medicare decide to release them, there’s nothing anyone can say or do to get them, other than buy them outright or get a secondary insurance that covers them.

Medicare does not do anything based on what makes sense either financially or operationally which is why they are so inefficient, wasteful and fraught with fraud. Medicare sets rules and both Medicare and Patients must live by those rules, no matter how inefficient or irresponsible those rules may be.
I’ll accept that I am a blind man touching an elephant. Will you?

Will you
When it comes to the US Government, I accept.
Last night, as I got home, close to half-past ten,
There was a box I thought I knew, and I opened it with great zen …
It was my first monthly supply of Dex MEDICARE G6 sensors … plus a new transmitter (which I had to start today) - please note @CJ114
Congratulations! You’re the first that we know about, to get Medicare to cover and ship a G6.
Did the Medicare kit used to also contain strips ?
oh, no I hope they let me stay on the G5!
150, by default. I got an Rx so that I’d get 300, but I no longer need that many so I enter “1” or “2” on the order form so that I get less than 300 now.
Wondering if what I heard about strips and the G6 Medicare kit is accurate …
