One of Jeff Bezos favorite statements is “Your margin is my opportunity” Given the profit margins and waste and fraud in the entire medical system, maybe Amazon Care should be his next venture. I would be very surprised if we don’t see inroads into medical care by Amazon very soon. Starting with the prescription drug end of the business.

Where’s the money going to come from to fund this? I get a 1099 from social security every year because of the ACA. I don’t take part in the ACA. Nobody advocating for this disastrous monstrosity has uttered a concrete plan of how to fund it.

I am a little confused about your comments. Are you FOR or AGAINST “medicare for all”? Do you support the abolishment of employer based coverage? Of ALL insurance companies? Are you advocating for a single payer system and the total control of it by the government?
Seeing what the industry did to people under obamacare is another reason among many to destroy it.
What the INDUSTRY did? under ObamaCare? The GOVERNMENT did that, not the medical industry.

That is not how they are selling this to the public. Wonderful, I get to give up my great health care and replace it with less care and a lot of money out of pocket. Sounds like a government operation alright. Half for twice the cost.

I agree, the cost will always be on the consumer/taypayer, as the government does not have any money. The only money the government has, is the money it collects from the people.
I think some people forget that and think that if the “government” pays for it, it doesn’t cost the people anything.
WE are the ones that FUND the government. It is OUR money that will fund ANY government program.
This is a very HOT topic. There is much NOT said when the politicians throw around their slogans and sound bites. They make it sound so great but when we get into the details, things begin to sour.
I guess I will show my pessimission and say that the politicians will keep as much of the details away from public consumption as possible for that exact reason. To quote a previous poster and Nance Pelosi when she said about the ACA, “We need to pass the bill so we can find out what is in it.”

I believe Senator Bernie Sanders, candidate for President, said that. He said he would raise taxes to pay for FREE healthcare. I could be wrong but I do believe that is the clip of what I saw on television.

I am a hardcore liberal and I am here to tell you Bernie is insane.
He wants a financial transaction tax on stock trades - I am not talking a tiny amount - it is astronomical - his goal is to destroy wall street. The little day trader scalping for a few bucks to put food on the table will be destroyed. The same with the big pension funds. It’s called an FTT - you can google Bernie Sanders FTT to learn more if are unaware.
A single payer system can be done, but not with Bernie
The FTT is part of his funding
It is unreal how many folks who support him are unaware of his FTT

I re-read your post several times. I think I better understand part of the statement above. YES, insurance companies are in the business with the goal of making a profit. The government is not a business entity with a profit goal. I am guessing that you are talking about the INSURANCE industry when you say it should be destroyed. I originally thought you were refering to the MEDICAL industry.
To then jump to the idea that the “profit” of the insurance industry will then go to healthcare if insurance companies are abolished is a stretch. By your logic, the profits will go to the government. What they will do with those funds can be anything. Another concept from your logic could be there will be NO profits to go to any place, not even to the government.
Maybe I still do not understand your comment. I am just trying to sort it out.

Why should my choice get taken away from me? My husband took a job that paid half of what his previous job did for better benefits and a better retirement plan. So why should we be penalized for making a good decision for our future? Because of someone that made different decisions? I want my private insurance plan that I choose to pay for.
