My wife has used Medtronic insulin pumps for over ten years and just this month has become eligible for Medicare. For the last month she has been trying to get her supplies from Medtronic. There have been lots of hoops she has had to go thru with no end in sight. Bottom line, she has one more setup left and Medtronic will not send her any supplies unless she pays for them upfront. This is life and death. Medtronic is a company that is more interested in money than in the wellbeing of their customers.
Maybe she needs to consider a DME supplier other than Medtronic. I started Medicare in April and had no problem getting my pump supplies from CCS Medical, the supplier that Tandem referred me to. I was required to have a C-peptide test, see my endo, and she had various things to submit. All of that being said, so far Medicare has denied payment, but CCS indicated that is not unusual for the first pump supply order. CCS told me they will take care of it and they have not asked me for any payment.
Does your wife have traditional Medicare with a supplemental policy or an Advantage plan?
