Metformin and Victoza combo suddenly stopped working?

Hi Everyone, Never posted on here before but this site has been a wealth of information for me. Here is my issue. I was diagnosed with type 2 about 5 years ago. Lost about 30 pounds and was but on metformin 500mg twice a day. Numbers looked really good for a long time. Did not lose or gain any weight but numbers creeped up again…raised the metformin dose again and back to normal. Was put on Victoza along with the metformin back in May. Numbers went down to 90-100 levels consistently. About a week ago, my numbers have raised to the 150-200 range throughout the day. I am starting to freak out and wonder what is happening. My diet has been consistent over this time. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated… thank you in advance!

I have to tell you, most diabetes drugs are not durable. I mean they typically do not continue to be as effective over time. In my case the GLP-1 drugs (both Byetta and Victoza) worked great, but only for 2-3 weeks. Dr. Bernstein recognizes this problem and has his patients switch between different GLP-1 drugs when they become ineffective. You might talk with your doctor about this.

ps. It may also be true that you are sick or inflamed in some way. These high blood sugars may pass.
