I feel with this new pump I change the battery more often. It seems to last less than a month.
Is it just me, but I don't remember changing batteries so often in my last Minimed paradigm
I have a Minimed Revel and there are two things you have to remember. First, according to what I've recently learned, you should ONLY use Energizer batteries. Apparently, these are the ONLY ones that are approved for use in the pump. Second, some of the battery caps in the Revels seem to have issues. I was having a fairly consistent problem where, upon changing the battery and screwing back on the cap, my pump was not coming back on. And then when it would come on, it would immediately say that the battery was low or not full (even though it was a brand new battery). I called Minimed and they immediately sent me out a new battery cap. Since replacing the cap, I have had no issues.
I was thinking mine was less, perhaps because I'm able to turn off the bleeping bleeping in the middle of the night? I had the "it won't turn on" moment two days ago w/ a brand new Energizer and was like "!!!!" but then it came on.

Don't hesitate to call Minimed and ask them for a new battery cap. It's covered under your warranty and I have a feeling that there is a defect with them. Someone blogged about this EXACT issue the last day on which I had trouble with mine (http://www.meanddblog.com/2012/04/pump-panic.html). It was Jess's post that prompted me to call Medtronic the last time it happened and request a new battery cap. It solved my issue.
But yeah, can we talk about PANIC!!! I realized I didn't have any basal insulin in the house and was seriously ready to place an emergency call to my endo (which I hate doing).
I know how u feel about thart panic mode. My old pump took out on a Friday which when I called MM they said I would get an overnight shipment of a replacement pump....For some asrb reason the pump didn't show up til the next Monday. Yep totally panicked!!!
I won't think twice about calling MM thank you!
I had that "battery low" problem two weeks ago...apparently the battery had run out and beeped, but I either didn't hear it or forgot to change it (it has to be low for quite a while, so I didn't remember what or when it happened). At any rate, I was on the road and panicked...pulled into a gas station, changed the battery, got the same message (I think it was "battery out time" or something like that), and called Medtronic. Their tech walked me through it. Lesson learned...if your batter needs changing, do it right away!
As far as the batteries lasting, they seem to last about the same length of time in the Revel as in the previous pumps.

I think it is odd that they use a AAA battery in these pumps when a AA would fit.
In my animas pump I had an AA and it lasted 3 months.
Also, if you have the meter telemetry option on it uses up your battery faster as does the CGM mode being on even if you are not using a sensor.
Lithium batteries last the longest but alas MORE EXPENSIVE too!
I used to get a new lithium battery with my Animas orders and it was perfect timing every time,
I know they don't do that anymore :(
MM gave me a bunch of batteries when I bought the pump and I'm near done with those now.
I don't use the CGM or the meter connection, but I know in my previous MM pump I never thought about the battery, now I change it in less than a month.
LOL Ruth we've all learned that lesson at onetime or another! That'S just plain funny!
LOL Doris...yep, 10 years on the pump and there are STILL lessons to be learned!
