Mobile Update for T:slim X2 Finally Approved!

Timothy,

As a diagnosed Alzheimer’s sufferer at age 55, one factor stands out in my mind. Usually, and I do mean usually, EOD (early onset dementia) results from a known collection of DNA permutations and is genetically passed on from family generations.

In my case, my Mother’s generation all had LOD (late onset dementia), my maternal grandfather had EOD, and it would appear that my maternal great grandfather may have had EOD also.

So, if you don’t have a family history of EOD, you are probably not suffering EOD yourself.

One of the differences between EOD and LOD is the age of 65. Younger than 65 is EOD and after age 65 is LOD.

Another difference is that of genetics. EOD has somewhere about 70 known mutations that causes it, 100% of the time. LOD has several mutations that predisposes you to having AD, but no know mutations that cause it, yet.

I just wish that Tandem would make a cross platform updater. It is such a huge inconvenience for me to update my pump as I don’t use Windows or Apple at home or work and don’t have one of those computers readily available.

I assume that means you’re a Linux user, too? I’m 100% with you on that one and complain about their lack of Linux support every time they send a survey out. I’ve had some luck updating my pump using Windows installed in a virtual machine, but for some reason have had trouble getting the USB ports to work while inside the virtual machine in recent years. Your mileage may vary on that one

For now, I’ve settled on keeping Windows installed on a separate partition on an ancient laptop we seldom ever use anymore. (It only lingers because it actually has a CD/dvd drive!) You don’t even need a paid and registered version. Windows still works without paying for a registry key, it just pops up annoying messages to register all the time, which is no big deal when you only log onto that partition once in a blue moon.

The good news is that Tandem is moving towards wireless updates, too, in the near future. So they should be accessible from the mobile app(s). I believe it’s going to be part of the new Tandem Source data platform they’re launching this year, but I could be wrong about which app.

Yep, Linux all day every day! My home computer and my work one. I technically could get a Mac from work, but that’s pretty gross so that’s a no from me lol. I may try a VM, especially since you can install Windows without a key now. I would be curious if it will work. It may require some add ons or something for proper USB support. I did try using Wine, and while it runs the software just fine, Wine doesn’t have USB data support so you can’t connect to the pump.

That would be awesome if they come out with a new platform like that. Many people don’t even have home computers or laptops these days as so much can be done on phones and tablets.

We had the same issues under republicans 4 years ago. It’s not about parties.
It was about the specific comments he said about diabetics.
That we are fat and if we lost weight insulin prices would fall.

Let’s not get sucked into political posturing. This one politician proved he is stupid. It has nothing to do with his party. Only to do with him making blatantly false comments and blaming patients for drug companies gouging us.

It is not ok no matter who has a majority in both houses or the presidency.

This has been getting worse every year since the 1980s when I started insulin.
Every administration and every president.
Let’s chill on the political partisan crap because we have enough of that already

I think I know the answer, but… Are the phone requirements a minimum, or are they exclusive? I suspect the constraint is approval, not capability. I REALLY hope they won’t have to approve it phone by phone forever. Very few phone have few capabilities that their predecessors If it works with an S20, it should be allowed for the S21. Thanks!

Releasing only Android OS version 11 is going to be problematic since version 12 is GA and being rolled out by the carriers.

My S10 is already on 12.

Hopefully they figure this out soon otherwise all this mobile bolus hype will be much to do about nothing.
