Hi, everyone. I have been a Diabetic for 24 years. I was sick for 6 months before I could finally get a doctor to listen to me. It took me 7 Doctors to finally get one to believe that I was Diabetic. I actually had to corner him by the door and not let him leave until he listened to me. Instead of getting angry at me. He smiled at me and said. You’re too young to have Diabetes. I said Oh? My nephew got it when he was 2 years old. Then he said. Well you’re too old to have Jouvinial Diabetes, and to young and skinny to have type 2 Diabetes. And I said and you are the 7th stubborn doctor I have told my story to.
1 week later they call me up after the test and said; You ARE Diabetic. Part of me was like duh, I told you so. Then the other part was. Oh my gosh. I’m diabetic. I’m going to die young!
24 years later here I am. I have Neuropathy all over my body and inside. The severe painful kind. I was diagnosed with it 3 years after I was diagnosed with Diabetes. I had to convince doctors that I had neuropathy. They all kept saying. You haven’t had Diabetes long enough to have it. Finally, 1 year later, I found a doctor who listened. It took me to marry a military man to find this military doctor who would here me out! I believe I had neuropathy before I was Diabetic. Becuase the doctors couldn’t diagnose me. But, they kept saying. It’s most likely nerves. Ever since then, I have diganosed myself with so many other ailments. And I thank God for the doctors who listen to me. I have Arthritis in my back and neck due to pretruding discs. And stenosis in the neck. I have an audoimmune disease. And that caused me to have liver disease. Stage 1 Fibrosis. So needless to say. I am on disability. Have been for 8 years.
I am married to a wonderful man, for nearly 18 years. We have two teenagers. Awesome kids! Two dogs and one silly cat!
I am out of the wheel chair now. Have been for 4 years. But, was in it for most of our marriage. My awesome parents who just live 3 miles down the road (where I was raised) from where we live on the Air Base helped raise my children.
My dad just passed away 1 month and two days ago. Then my cousin, then my uncle. All in the same month! So I am trying to get my bearings back. It’s affected the diabetes a little, but, not a great deal. I am strong in my faith with Jesus so that helps a great deal. Plus my husband kids and mom are so great to me. I love them all dearly. And have great friends to support me also.
I enjoy writing poetry, reading, photography, scrapbooking, crafts and spending time out doors. And walking as much as I can!
I enjoy meeting new people. From all walks of life and all beliefs and races.
