My Vison of Acupuncture

Hello everybody,
I’m not a blogger, but I’ll post a message that i just posted in a group:

I’m a T1 since I was 8 (i’m 31 now). I since ever i had myopia from family inheritance. Back in 2000 I did a laser surgery and after that could see like an eagle. It was fantastic.
But then, in 2004 my vision became blurred. I crashed my car twice that year and could never imagined l had developed retinopathy. I changed my eye doctor. The other said I had microaneurism in my right eye and told me to care and consult twice a year. In December 2007 things got worse and l had to go to a laser treatment. Another fantastic change in my vision. One year after my vision got blurred again, slowly. Last month l went to the ophthalmology and she got worried. Tomorrow l will see another doc who lasers me, a specialist in retinopathy.
Coincidently, two weeks ago I started an acupuncture treatment for anxiety and depression problems and mentioned that l was T1 and had retinopathy. I only got 3 sessions of acupuncture and literally I already see the difference of before/after the treatment. I will have 8 more needle (something i’m habituated) sessions. I’m expecting that after (or before) I finish the acupuncture treatment, I can finally say “wow, fantastic!!” like I did in 2000.
Tomorrow I’ll have my eyes screened an in November i’ll go back to the ophthalmology. Now, I’m waiting to see what’s happening…

I’m not making any advertisement of Acupuncture, but it is working with me and I became a fan. From now on I’ll have it as an alternative for my treatment!

That’s wonderful! Hope you’ll keep us posted on your acupuncture treatments. Did it help with the depression & anxiety?

It is always interesting to learn about new developments on procedures (medical or otherwise) that may help diabetes and its complications. Thank you for sharing. Please keep us posted how it is helping you.

I am a big fan of acupuncture too, it helped me a lot with joint pain. I’d never substitute it for seeing a retina specialist, though. I know the laser for retinopathy is not fun (I’ve had 11 laser treatments for retinopathy), but it’s really important that you see a retina specialist at least once a year.

It’s the only thing that affects my sinusitis at all. I LOVE it. Wish I could see my old acupuncturist in MA but have not yet had the wherewithall to seek one out here in ME.
