New medical ID

I’m currently shopping for a new medical alert ID. What’s your preferrence…necklace or bracelet?

Mine is a bracelet. I found one that is like a watch band with an id type bar and it opens for your information. They sell them 1 for 10.00 not bad, considering I looked at several that were so costly it almost made me give up. This one shouldn't be worn in water, like swimming, which I do for exercise. So I am going to get a couple of the bands like "Live Strong" bracelets. I found both of these on amazon and ebay.

Paramedics and medical professionals are trained to look for bracelets not for necklaces...you may want to take that into consideration before choosing :)I have a bracelet from medicalert

I have a bracelet that is rubber like the support bracelets. One part of the bracelet says medical ID and another part says Diabetes. It can be a life saver.

Thank you for letting me know about the paramedics being trained to look for bracelets. I didn't know that and I will certainly take that into consideration.

I have a medic alert stretchy band stainless steel bracelet- it is my fav.. they're currently on sale still I think. You have to become a member also to buy one.

I wear a bracelet. It annoys me sometimes when it flaps around my wrist, so I push it up until it stays. Usually that means it's under my sleeve.

Hmmmm, I wonder if that defeats the purpose...

Bracelet, I just got a new one with little crystal hearts and beeds on a stainless steel wire. I liked it cause it is girly.

Bracelet, I use a leather band one with a medical metal plate from StickyJ.

I just ordered another bracelet and a necklace and renewed my membership at medic alert- she told me that the first responders will also look for a necklace so it's ok to use that too...

Agree with the statement about bracelets and EMS. I would have it say "type 1 diabetes" since there is such a huge difference between type 1 and 2. By saying "type 1 diabtes" the EMS people will know that insulin is involved.

Meee,Thanks for posting a picture. That's very similar to what I was looking for. What I'm currently wearing is an alert band that I bought from Medtronics that wraps around my watchband. I didn't think they still had them for sale but, I just saw they still offer it. You get two, one silver and one gold for less then $10.

Guitarnut, I have the same problem. I get annoyed with it on my wrist and I do the same thing as you....I push it up my sleeve...haha. I guess that's why I was considering going with a necklace instead.

Catfan, I'm not sure if it's the same one you're talking about but, I saw one with the crystal hearts and beads. Really cute!

t.clayton, I really like the leather ones. In fact I came very close to getting one. Hmmm....and I still might buy it.

Karen, I have one of those. Mine says Type 1 Diabetes. I keep it on my car shift.

Yes and as far as I know medic =alert is the only one with a continually patient updatable database and a 1-800 number. So the medical folks get the latest information.

I just bought a ladies' watch from Medic Alert. A bit clunky, not a fashion statement, but it will no doubt do it's job--that is, to provide me with insurance in case of necessity. When I want to wear a more fashionable watch, I use their bracelet, pictured here.

As long as it does it's job, right Trudy!

I'm toying with getting a tattoo. Having it on the inside of my wrist. Since Murphy's Law is the rule of my life, "they" will come up with the cure as soon as I get the tat. I figure I'll then get the red circle/slash and consider it my gift to all of us with D
