New member... Hi Everyone, need pump advise

Well we made our decission… we ordered the Cozmo pump Friday and I think it will be the best one for Jamie. I like all the features that it has like the bolis alarm and the fact that it is waterproof. It has lots of features that the minimed does not have and I heard so many stories about the minimed cbgm system being so inaccurate, even the rep said it is more for showing trends than actual blood sugar levels. If we do decide to get a cbgm we will go with the Navigator. Thanks for all your input and we will let you know how she does.

Just one comment to you and it’s not about the actual pump. MAKE SURE YOUR INSURANCE COVERS THE DME SUPPLIES and that the DME provider is IN NETWORK with your insurance company.

Actually another comment: a horror story. Make sure you check the DME provider out. I was “shined on” by the people setting me up (no choice in meter OR supplier). They set me up with CCS Medical and they are NOT in network. They told me that CCS was the only one that carries the supplies. I thought it was just because it was a new meter. Never realizing that the infusion sets were exactly like the ones I used 5 years ago! One whopping bill later I find out the truth. SO, I fire CCS but then find out more horrible news. My local in network supplier won’t even take orders for it because Medicare only gives them about $50 for a month’s supply. So, they won’t bill me even with the pay from Medicare. I found another out-of-state in network provider, but they want an UP-FRONT payment each month. So you see my problem?

Check out these nasty little details so you are going into it with open eyes. I don’t want to lose my pump … I’m attached to it! … errrrrr… it’s attached to me!

Hi Tim! I just wanted to post a link to an old discussion comparing the Animas Ping and the Cozmo for a child. To read that discussion, click here.

I have used the Cozmo and the Minimed. I have had good experiences with both, but I think that there are some features of the Cozmo that make it more kid-friendly.

The best way to figure this out is to meet with each pump rep and have them show you and your daughter the pump. If you call the companies, they are usually willing to set up a meeting!

Been there… done that, We spent a lot of time researching all 4 pumps and hope we chose the best for her. I am sure there will be a ton of questions so be prepared.

Minimed has matching skins, for the pump. They cost $10.00. The kids at my school love the skins, they show them off and it makes them special. I even bought one. Hey an old man cannot be to far behind the times.
