New to pumping

Anything I need to be aware of startting out on the pump? What are your experiences? Any recommendations or tips? Would appreciate any comments.

I would recommend the book “Pumping Insulin” by John Walsh. Excellent books and helped me out when I started on my pump in April.

My son has been on the pump for a year and it has given him so much freedom. He was taking about 9 shots a day. He went from sleeping in his birthday suit to wearing PJ bottoms to hold the pump. I sewed a pocket in his Tai Kwon Do pants, He checks his BG 4-5 times a day. The pump lowered his AIC from 11 to 6.5 in 6 months. Keep the tube from freezing when playing in the snow - and remebering to put the pump on after a 45 minute swim have been our only challenges - it is great!

Get to know your pump. I am not sure how it works for the type 2 but with my type 1 I can try different things and if my BG goes up I know that did not work and can correct it and go on. Expermint and see what works for you.

Good luck and good pumping!
Andy
