Just saw another one of those "Call this attorney if you took (this drug) & were diagnosed with (this disease)." This is the first warning I've seen about Januvia. If I'm not mistaken, Januvia has only been on the market for 5-6 years & they're warning about Pancreatic Cancer for both Januvia and Byetta. I've only heard about Byetta being linked to Pancreatitis, not cancer.
When I was diagnosed in 12-08, I was given both Metformin and Janumet. I only took them for one month, then decided to stop & just tweak my diet & exercise regimen. I decided that if that stopped working, I'd much prefer insulin to any drug.
All drugs have some effect on the human body, otherwise they wouldn't be useful. After lengthy study, we can learn about the serious side effects and how often they occur. Both Januvia and Byetta have been studied and been on the market long enough that we have a rough idea how dangerous they are. In both cases it appears, not much. This is not Vioxx. And at this point we can reasonably conclude that both Januvia and Byetta are likely safer than Tylenol. This is just a lawyer trolling for lawsuits. Don't take this as science or evidence and don't stop taking the medication without looking at the real evidence and talking with your doctor.
