New!

Hi everyone! I’m new here so I figured I would introduce myself. I’m 20 years old, and I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes March 23, 2003, my bloodsugar hit 948. I have had quite a time with my diabetes, but I cope with it as best as I can. I get so frustrated sometimes because I never seem to have it right lately, it’s always something… too high, too low, it gets annoying. You would think as long as I have had it, i would have it down like a pro, but unfortunately, not in my case. I started out with syringes of humalin and humalog, went to pens of lantus and humalog, and in about 2 weeks i’m going to be starting on the medtronic pump. I’m extremely nervous, I think almost too nervous, but i’m very excited at the same time. I went into DKA January 2008, I have a goiter thyroid, high cholesterol and vision problems. I don’t blame it all on my diabetes because I know i probably could have helped some of the things. I’m in college, majoring in radiation sciences. I’m a very nice and caring person, I love helping people. I’m very excited to be here, I don’t have many friends that are diabetic! My dad is also newly diagnosed with type 2.

I was also very suprised how well by BG’s started to improve immediatly after starting and I’m sure yours will too. Lots of friendly, helpful people here so enjoy your stay!

ps…maybe you can invite your dad to join too =)

I definitely would, but he’s not very computer savvy! hahaha. All he really knows is redskins.com, scores, sports… that’s about as far as he goes.
