Newly diagnoised Type 2

I had joined this site a couple years ago to support my husband and learn how to help him after his car accident. Well last month i was diagnoised a type 2 diabetic but since i started a new diet my sugars went from 200s to 90s to 120. I can not exercise much due to my physical health but i am losing weight quick. This is all new to me all i know about diabeteis is type 1 brittle that my husband was i need help learning how to control this for me and wondering if it will go away.

Type 2 really never "goes away" what you can do is get and keep control so you do not need meds. In many ways I think you have already answered your question. your improvement sin diet seem to be doing the trick and if you are maintaining that weight (no loner dropping like a rock) and doing that diet you have found your way through. I looks like you have reset your body and can now go forward. I wish you the very best.

Yes, I agree with Rick, keep on as you are doing and best of luck.

Angie…first of all, WELCOME BACK!!!
In answer to your question…diabetes, regardless of the type, never goes away. It can be so well controlled as to give the impression that it has gone away…but it is nevertheless still “there”. Be that as it may, you learn to live with it, and not let it control YOU. That takes time…but you have shown yourself to be proactive, and THAT is paramount! We are all here for you sweetie. One has to be “wired” to acquire diabetes, I would not be surprised if all the stress you’ve endured was the trip switch that set it in motion. I know that stress was indeed a factor in my case.

LOVE AND BASKETS OF HUGS

Hi Angie. I remember very well when you talked about your husband's accident and how much your pets supplied their own unique therapy. May I ask, how is your husband doing? I'm sorry you developed Type 2, but I know you're going to manage it well. My best to you all. Trudy

He died right before christmas last years.

Angie, I am so sorry to hear that. I do agree with Linda stress can cause some strange stuff. You have had your fair share. So that can be part of the issue. Hang in there and welcome back.

I am so sorry. As Linda said, stress can be a factor in triggering diabetes; it certainly was a factor in my own Type 1. My best to you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I'm sure that all the stress has not helped. I do hope you will stick around and be active so that we can help you through this.

Hi Angie, I am so sorry to hear of your loss but it is encouraging that you are reaching out for guidance. It sounds like you know what to do. Keep it up and continue to reach out for support! Life really throws us curveballs sometimes but you can manage your diabetes. Keep following your meal plan. It will help you to feel better. Sounds like you are doing GREAT already! I hope you have a good support system at home.

Hi Angie,

We have a group for people with type 2 that might be helpful to you in trying to figure out how to take good care of yourself (although it sounds like you're off to a really good start at that :) You can find and join that group, if you would like, here: http://www.tudiabetes.org/groups/type2.

I remember when Lee passed away, and I hope you have gotten lots of love and support in the last many months to help get through it. I'm sorry for the reason you have come back to the community, but glad that you're here. Welcome, friend :)
