A research team that includes Johns Hopkins Medicine and IBM Research has discovered a new immune cell that may trigger the autoimmune response leading to T1D.
This looks really interesting. The cell they discovered has been theorized, but never actually found. Of course, more research will have to be done to replicate their findings and then begin to examine how to deal with the anomaly.
To me, this further emphasizes how little we actually know despite years of research.
