Nighttime shot

I normally take my Lantus shot at 11:30 every night. Would it affect it much if I bumped it back an hour so I could go to sleep earlier?

It has not effected me, I take my first shot of Levemir (used to take Lantus up until last week) between 8am and 9am, I take my night dose between 9pm and 10pm. I DID the same when I was on Lantus, when I took one shot of Lantus and also when I split it. Why do you take it soooo late anyway, if you don’t mind me asking?

I used to stay up until at least midnight most of the time, and I was trying to find a way to still do that and maintain some kind of schedule.

Get a pump. Schedules suck.

You can take your dose anytime as long as it is pretty much on a regular schedule, like 10pm and you still can stay up as late as you want. Do you take one shot of Lantus? Just check BS’s and even get up in the am and check, eat something and go back tosleep if that’s what you want.

pumps are so cool, i wish i had one. You don’t want to take lantus advice from me, i accidentally forgot to take it and now i’m taking it when i wake up (2:30 p.m. i work 3rd and sleep during the day).

You definitely can do this. I take two separate injections of basal (was Lantus, now Levemir) & take my evening shot at different times. I have bad dawn phenonmenon. What my endo told me was to take it immediately before bed & not to worry about a regularly scheduled time. I was taking it too early before bed. Once I started taking it as recommended, my fasting numbers improved.
