DOES ANY KNOW WHAT AN OMINPOD RETAIL’S FOR I AM WONDERING ABOUT GETTING ONE AND COMING OFF THE COZM DELTC
Have you checked their website, Roy? Here’s a DIRECT link to how much it costs.
You know what…I’m in a similar boat. I’m considering switching from an animas to the omni pod. I’m about to make a post for some feedback.
Try going into the forums and doing a search for “omnipod and animas.” You will see hundreds of discussion threads on the topic. Also, join our Omnipod users group and see what people have to say about that pump therapy.
If I’m not mistaken, the Omnipod system is $800 at full price. with insurance, i only paid $80. if you’re confused at the price, and notice that it’s a lot less than most pumps… it’s true! The Omnipod is significantly less expensive.
And, the “pod” part that you change every 3 days costs the same as the parts that you change every three days with another pump ($30 per pod, $3 with insurance for me).
I’m a fan of the omnipod (though I don’t use it), but it’s not entirely true that it’s less expensive. My husband figured it out when I was pump-shopping that you would pay less up front for the initial system, but the same total amount over a four-year warranty because the pods are more expensive than traditional tubing supply orders.
Melissa-
I agree, Omnipod’s intial cost is a lot cheaper than the traditional pump. The Onmipod’s supplies are more expensive in the long run. Without insurance the Pod is 30.00 a piece.
Hmmm… I was pretty sure that I heard that the pod price was similar to that of the tubing/infusion site price.
You know, the thing that other pumpers change every three days? a new infusion site and tubing? i thought i heard that the price of that every three days, is also around $30 full price. maybe i was confused, lol. that happens a lot.
It’s actually like $110-145 a box for infusion sets, which has 10 (or a 30-day supply). That’s more like $10-15 per set. I have ordered from Minimed, Cozmo, and Animas within the last 12 months and all their prices are in that range for all the major infusion sets. That’s not considering your copay of course - I think I pay only 10% of that price.
