I was hoping someone might be able to give me some advice. I am on the Omnipod pump and a few weeks ago I started to notice high sugars. I am anal about my control and have really been frustrated as it seems I am really resistant, having to blus 3x more insulin than usual and increase the basal rate and I am still chasing highs.
I have been wearing the pump on my lower abdomen because it is easier to conceal. it is just below the belly button on the side. Has anyone else had a problem with absorption in this area? Thanks!
Hi mary, i'm not sure how long you have been podding but it is probably an absorption issue and you may need to mix up your sites, some women seem to like the low back area, my son is strickly belly and arms, also are your highs mostly after a pod change, a big issue for us, i might be on to a long term solution we tried temp basal increases with mixed results, but someone here suggested .5 prior to pod change and about 1.5 post this worked well our last change good luck, i feel your frustration! amy
It could be a bad insulin. When I get unexplained high sugars it is usually my insulin. If I change out my insulin, eveything gets better. Do the high sugars happen the whole time, or just when you have been using the same connection for more than 2 days?
