I’ve been using the OmniPod for 1.5 years now and suddenly the last several pods have been giving me a severe rash, almost like acid burnt my skin. After I remove the pod my skin feels almost wet. Within a few minutes it begins to turn red and is very itchy and turns into a rash. It does recover but I’m just wondering if I am doing something wrong. I try to keep water and soap off of the pod while showering in case that is causing some reaction. Does anyone else have such an experience?
Some folks seem to develop a rash to the adhesive for unclear reasons.
Possible solutions:
*Put down a barrier, like Tough Pad, before attaching the Pod.
*Use a steroid inhaler which is usually prescribed for asthma.
Good luck!
ETA: It goes without saying (but I’ll say it anyway): you spray the inhaler mist onto your skin as opposed to inhaling it!
Thank you for these suggestions! I will try the Tough Pad first and let you know how it goes!

I had similar problems. My skin reacted to the abuse that it took when I ripped the pod off. The fix was using Skin-Prep & Uni-Solve. It took several weeks for my skin to trust the pod again. Haven’t had skin problems since.
We experienced something similar with Caleb. His skin was also very dry where he was placing the pod. Using Aquaphor on those areas after removing the Pods and either using a solvent like unisolve or remove, or even removing the Pods after a shower, helped a great deal.
I finally ordered the Tough Pads on Amazon and have tried them out on my last two pods. Thankfully, they worked! No rash! I have a difficult time placing the pod exactly over the Tough Pad though. There isn’t much leeway as they are nearly the same size. What a relief though. I was afraid I might have to give up using the OmniPod! Thanks again for the recommendation.
