Being fairly new to pumping (2 weeks) I am trying to find the right infusion set for my daughter. We are wanting to try the Orbit 90 but in the instruction book it does not tell you when you unhook for a shower or bath whether or not you need to prime before you hook up again or is it a direct connect. I called the company today and left a message but no one has returned my call. Are there any users that can help me with this? My daughter has Down Syndrome and we are trying to have her be as independent as possible if we can. We have been using the Accu Chek Rapid D and they work well except the steel cannula needs to replaced in 1 or 2 days and I am trying to avoid poking her those extra times. Any help would be appreciated.

.As a Medtronic user I was advised not to use the luerlock Orbit 90 …I think Orbit will eventually have a set designed for MM …another story …then I will try again . I , when ( used the Orbit ) I did not disconnect in the shower …the tubing was long enough to move around …do you need to help your daughter , or is she capable ?..I never prime with all the infusion sets I have used since 2001 …UNLESS a bubble in sight .
PS I use Medtronic 's Sure-T’s …every 2 days replacement ( but I have re-used the needle part for the next 2 days ) and make sure I use IV3000 to keep it down .

okay my friend alyssa tried the orbit infusion set. she used it for 3 months. it stuck very well because of the heat activated tape. the best part is it comes with blue tubing try to avoid steel canula’s because when the get ripped out they HURT. what worked well for alyssa was changing the site every 2-3 days. disconnecting for a bath or shower depends if you have a waterproof pump or not. No matter what infusion set you use I recommend you always prime until you see insulin come out before connecting.
another infusion set which is the most painless one I have ever tried is the inset 90 by Animas. it comes with an inserter built right in. For me it is the best. no matter what infusion set you use the max you can wear it is 3 days. I totally recommend you try the animas inset. it is very comfortable. it comes in many colors too.

Being so new to this some of my questions may seem silly but I am unsure what you mean when you say you use IV3000 to keep it down. How do you use the IV3000?
We tried the Inset 30 and they really seemed to irritate her skin so consequently I have been staying away from the 90s as well. I am assuming that it was the adhesive that was doing the irritating Thanks for the info on the priming. Our pump trainer told us that we did not need to prime the Inset 30 after disconnecting but I am unsure about the others. I would assume that the instructions should be more specific about those things.
Apologies about my use of words …I ment to say : I use IV3000 over my Sure-T set …to keep it stuck to my body( prevention ???) …never used IV3000 for any other infusion sets, including the Orbit but YES always for my GCMS sensor .

use tegaderm it holds 5 times better then iv3000…
We use Orbit Micros, disconnect before the shower and do not prime afterwards.
I am using the Orbit Micros. I don’t reprime when I disconnect for a shower either.
