Is your diabetes management affected by the government shutdown?

I’m on Medicare and the shutdown is irrelevant to my diabetes management. I feel bad for those working without a paycheck for an indeterminate time. I give props to those who are NOT calling in sick such as the TSA workers.

Will the government shutdown affect the anticipated rollout of Dexcom G6 for Medicare patients?

I wager it won’t.

CMS (Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services) has funding through September. There are a few other HHS agencies that do not have funding that are being affected by the shutdown, but CMS shouldn’t be significantly affected.

The FDA has been affected, but the G6 has already undergone review there. I can’t say for sure if that would affect the rollout of G6 for Medicare patients, but I don’t think that it would.
