Quotes that describe your "diabetes situation"

Nothing comes to mind these days… but being 2010 its time for a “new quote” describing this beast… anybody have a new one*s(???

Stuart

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant; The Power the Preserves (Book 3)

"…“Help Me” Covenant cried.

Then slowly his plea made itself felt.

Some prophecy in his words touched the hearts that heard him. With terrible effort, Saltheart Foamfollower the last of the Giants, began to laugh. It was gruesome sound at first; writhing in his fetters, Foamfollower spat out the laugh as if it were a curse… But as Foamfollower fought to laugh, his muscles loosened. The constriction of his throat and chest relaxed, allowing the pure wind of humor to blow the ashes of rage and pain from his lungs. Soon something like joy, something like real mirth appeared in his voice.

As it grew haler, Foamfollower’s laugh became infectious; it drew the grim spectors with it. They began to unclench their hate. Clean humor ran through them gathering momentum as it passed. Foamfollower gained joy from them and they began to taste his joy. In moments all contempt or scorn had fallen away… They were no longer laughing to express their outrage to their own surprise they were laughing for the pure joy of laughter, for the sheer satisfaction and emotional ebullirnce if mirth…" p. 373

A quote that I understood too well perhaps…

“Do or do not… there is no try.” Yoda

“Get busy livin’ or get busin’ dying. That’s damn right.” - Shawshank Redemption

“Hope is a good thing even the best of things and no good thing ever dies.” Shawshank Redemption

Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
-The Serenity Prayer

‘When life throws you lemons, make lemonade… just use splenda’ ; )

My husband likes to say that the short version of the serenity prayer is “F**k it.” I can’t decide whether I agree, or whether he’s just being a jackass. Maybe it’s a little of both.

Whats YOUR sugar SUGAR?, when people give me garbage about my BS or what I eat, I say that:)

Hello KimKat:

Thanks for sharing…

I’ll have to watch Shawshank again…

P.S. I do a decent Yoda voice -wg-

If you want a guarantee, buy a toaster. - Clint Eastwood, in The Rookie

“This is a crisis. A large crisis. In fact, if you’ve got a moment, it’s a twelve-story crisis with a magnificent entrance hall, carpeting throughout, 24-hour portage, and an enormous sign on the roof, saying ‘This Is a Large Crisis’. A large crisis requires a large plan. Get me two pencils and a pair of underpants.”

~Captain Edmund Blackadder, Blackadder Goes Forth

That’s perfect! Love it. Sure John would approve.

From The Incredible Hulk TV series. My diabetes talking to me.

“Don’t make me angry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry.”

“I have much bigger problems than a 6mm needle.”

Being alive is not living.

I also frequently use the lyric “there will be an answer, let it be”. I feel that it sums up diabetes well, because there is very little within the control of a diabetic, and at times all we can do is “let it be” and have faith in the universe that it has all happened for a damn good reason!! lol.

We are paratroopers we are used to be surrounded.

MY body, MY science experiment.

View all problems as challenges.
Look upon negativities that arise as opportunities to learn and to grow.
Don’t run from them, condemn yourself, or bury your burden in saintly silence.
You have a problem? Great.
More grist for the mill. Rejoice, dive in, and investigate.
Bhante Henepola Gunaratana, “Mindfulness in Plain English”

Love this. I read through the whole list and I have to say that TU has some really smart PWD’s
