Quotes that describe your "diabetes situation"

Shawshank Redemption!! Great movie, great quote!!! I use that one a lot!

Okay I read this analogy in a book somewhere:

“Having diabetes is like having a baby that never stops crying.”

Is it okay that I want to throw my baby out of a window?

I don’t think I should ever have children…

My personal quote. What is diabetes like “It’s like walking a tightrope, while riding a wild roller coaster”

Yessss, it’s ok!!! Too cute!

In reference to a good friend of mine who constantly talks about how she’s worried because - those last 5 lbs she needs to lose, she’s convinced some guy really doesn’t like her, or feels sad because she thinks she’s ugly (she’s healthy and beautiful): Wow, some people don’t have that luxury.

Yes, you do!! You are healthy and beautiful (I can see that in your picture!), although you need to do a little extra to maintain your health. And you don’t even have that last 5 lb. to lose!

I’m not saying to obsess like she is doing, but take every ounce of joy you can out of your young and beautiful life, and do everything you can think of that might be fun! You are only young once, and you should absolutely make the most of it, and diabetes be damned!

Where’s the “like” button on this thing?
In all seriousness though, well chosen, on several levels.

Assorted lyrics from Ani Difranco:

“She said, 'I’d like to sympathize with that, but if you don’t understand, then, how can you act?”

“The world looked her in the face and said, 'Roll with it baby – make it your career. Keep the home fires burning till America is in the clear.”

“I try to laugh at whatever life brings, because when I look down, I just miss all the good stuff, and when I look up, I just trip over things.”

Natalie…You are wonderful!!! oxoxox’s

No excuses.

Yes! And isn’t mental health important too? And how can you be mentally healthy if you are miserable from deprivation of all enjoyable things? Very good quote you posted!

so true…we should be thankful for all…even with diabetes we can still be thankful for million things that we have and can’t know their importance until we lose them…one thing diabetes taught me is to stop nagging and be thankful

Why should you feel guilty for eating? You didn’t eat your way into this. Don’t listen to what others tell you about eating and type 1 diabetes. As long as you eat relatively healthy, then eat to your heart’s content. Don’t feel guilty to feed yourself. Remember, the brain runs of pure sugar and the body needs it for energy. Enjoy it as nourishment.

That is GREAT!!

U have an “Attitude of Gratitude”, Wassim…my philosophy as well!!!

God bless,
Brunetta

But don’t forget that as you age, the metabolism gets slower, and you either have to bump up the physical activity (a lot), or change your eating habits. Over 40, you CAN’T eat to your heart’s content, unless you want a spare tire that you’re never going to need!

Hello Anthony:

Think you forgot a piece of that quote…

"… and we’re out of bullets…" -LOL-

Stuart

“Never give up. Never, never, never give up.” - Winston Churchill

“Watch the blood run down her arms, please don’t take notice.” - Kittie

Ouch!!! (Pondering the implications)
