Really big dawn effect

That info about chilling is useful. I still have my summer weight duvet on. Husband and I subscribe to the "correct " mid European ways and each have our own duvet. I threw a light weight fleece blanket over mine last night. I’ll monitor the effect. I can’t bear heating on in the bedroom

I have the concern that it could be a high burden or stress to always aim at normal fasting values as a T2. If a healthy person has a fasting value of 115 then something is wrong. If a T2 has that sometimes it is also a visible sign of his diabetes. These 115 did no harm if the values at night were normal but they increase the likelyhood that the glucose value after the meal will rise more than planned. A trend for higher values would be reason for concern and this is quite common for T2 diabetics over time. So it is good to keep an eye on it to recognize the moment where changes are necessary.

David,

I’ve had the same experience as you with red meat. If I eat fish or chicken (skinless) for dinner, my fasting numbers are better. I’m guessing this is because they have less fat. One of the worst days I had was from eating chicken wings at a restaurant. Didn’t eat many at all, but I sure learned a lesson about eating something that high fat. Fat in form of cheese, cream or nuts doesn’t effect me adversely.

Great advice about eating larger lunches & smaller dinners. Though I’m a Type 1 on insulin, I know this would help me. But, my schedule doesn’t allow me to do this often enough. Lunch ends up being something quicky prepared & quickly eaten.

I tried wine before bed, as Jenny suggested, & had the same results. It worked for a short while, but then did nothing. Or, maybe it didn’t help at all & something else caused the good morning numbers those days. Vinegar didn’t help me. I tried straight organic apple cider vinegar & vinegar capsules.

Thanks all for the great discussion.
