Unfortunately, the Diabetes and Depression thing can be a vicious cycle. If you are having trouble managing your diabetes (or are just worn out from dealing with it), that combined with other factors can lead to Depression. One of the major symptoms of Depression is lack of motivation: You don’t feel like doing all you need to do for your Diabetes and don’t feel it will do any good if you do. (hopelessness). So things get worse with your blood sugars which exacerbates your Depression. I agree with what Donna and others are saying: Getting treatment for Depression will help with your diabetes management as well.
Am I the only one that sure would like to hear from Sagwabetes again? Perhaps if anyone has communicated with her they can let us know here. (Not, of course, the content of their communication, but just that she is ok)
Trying to find a therapist in the area. Sorry I don’t have a better update for everyone. Have to makie some hard decisions about looking into disability and it’s making the emotional end even harder.
OMG, I was just looking @ your page to see if you were putting a presence anywhere! I’m glad to hear from you. Trying to find a therapist is the right thing to do I think. I would think disability might be warranted too but I know that’s a pain in the ■■■ to work on. Sorry again I don’t have many answers but I saw your thread on the made page and was like “damn, I hope she’s ok or at least still here reading all this stuff…”
Hi glad to hear from you. Yes that is one emotional journey. I’ve been there and done that one. It’s really hard to do isn’t it? Thanks for updating us all and letting us know how you are. You had all of us worried there.
Good to hear from you and to know that you are taking steps to make things better. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve spoken to when they begin to recover from Depression who say, “I had no idea how bad it had gotten until I started to feel better” and “I wish I’d done this sooner”. Hang in there!
So glad to hear from you! I know how hard it is – been there, done that. I congratulate you for your effort to find a therapist – you took a step forward, which is better than continuing to sink into that black hole! Don’t worry about a “good” update – ANY update is welcome, because we want you to survive this and get better!
Thanks for checking in & please continue to update us. Hoping you find a therapist you feel good about. If you don’t feel comfortable with one, keep searching. It’s such an intimate relationship that clicking with the right person is critical.
