I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season!
In February, my boyfriend and I are relocating from Seattle to Minneapolis. Because my car is towing a trailer, and because we're avoiding all possible mountain ranges, our trip should be about 4 or 5, possibly six days.
I recently read in a past forum under the title "International Travel" about the little freezer bags that can keep insulin cool until I get get to a normal fridge.
So I have two questions -
Do the little freezer bags actually work? (I use Lantus and Humalog if that makes a difference).
Frio wallets work great. All you need is to briefly soak it in cold water to “recharge” it. I’ve used a Frio wallet in really hot weather. You can get a discount on Frio as a Tu D member & the Diabetes Hands Foundation gets a donation http://www.tudiabetes.org/notes/Discounts. Scroll down the page to ReadyCare.
In addition to Frio wallets, a small ice chest in your car would help to keep good snacks or small meals on hand. Also helpful to have energy bars and a couple of car thermoses for hot coffee. Have a good trip, and keep warm!
