Have you ever been unconscious or gone into convulsions from a low BG? Yes or No?
Yes
No! Yikes
Yes, once in 25 years by a massive insulin overdose I took by mistake after a long and exhaustive trip to Denmark. That was 1990 I think. Glucagon is my friend for life ;-)
42 years worth of D, and no.
No but only 5 years in so far.
Yes, at least 1/2 dozen or so, maybe a couple more...
Yes
In 50 years of type 1: unconscious once at 14 (and 21, but that is a LONG story,) and seizures a couple of times (last 10 years)when alert and able to treat.
No, I hope I dont start seems scary...
Nope not even close.
Once, before I knew what I was doing with insulin dosing. Hope to never have that experience again. (And don't really think I will)
Yes, three times that I can remember, in 43 years of type one.. Not fun and not to be repeated anytime soon.
God Bless,
Brunetta
Probably about 4 or 5 times. They range in severity. I've woken up once with paramedics in the bedroom, once with someone who was on the phone frantically trying to call his brother who was a doctor. They were due to drinking too much the night before and then having a plummeting BGL come morning. A couple of times I've had convulsions, ended up on the floor and not being able to get up. It's terrifying, I am 100% trying to make sure it never happens again.
19 years of Type 1, and thankfully I can say NOPE. I am usually able to catch it (lowest was probably 31?) and treat it.
Only twice, and I think I was semi-conscious, rather than totally unconscious. I did remember little bits and pieces of what happened, but it was kind of dream-like. For example, the first time it happened at the gym and someone apparently tried to give me orange juice. I remember a can of orange juice with a straw in it kind of floating by, but I never saw the person who gave it to me. So I think semi-conscious is the term for that?
Since I've been on the pump, my hypo awareness had been so much better...until today. I had a 46 and wasn't even aware that I was low. Hope this isn't the renewal of hypo unawareness - scary!

Not exactly unconsciousness, but hallucinating, delusional, in a dream state sort of.
no.
No-- but I'm new at this. Curious, how many of you with yes answers were from back in the Regular / NPH days or before? Better luck with modern insulins?
Most of my severer hypo type of incidents were back in the R/NPH days, although I managed to do it twice with a pump and CGM. Both times that happened were total bonehead errors on my part, compounded by having increased working out a lot and involving family events. Which was good, in that I was probably safe but the family members who perhaps aren't as familiar with stuff dialing 911 to be safe?
