We live in Rochester NY, will be in our neighborhood a few minutes after 3. Can’t decide where to go to view it.

Info here may be helpful.

It will be visible for a short time as it travels.

But where I am they are using zoo and parks as gathering places if you like crowds, food, and other activity.

I’m envious. I was living in the path of a partial solar eclipse (99%) several years ago and it was amazing, although I’ve heard that a total solar eclipse is much more impressive than a partial. I am in awe of these natural events. It’s a reminder that that nature is really the one in charge. It’s a spiritual reminder.

Enjoy the event and please post your experience.

We’re only going to get to 90% but given what the traffic is likely to be like made the call not to drive to where we’d get totality. Just got my cereal-box pinhole view a few minutes ago.

I was in the path of the Ring of Fire eclipse in October, which was pretty awesome. But only 40% for this one. Looks like cookie monster took a bite out of the sun, but otherwise not very interesting. (At least to me ) And even with eclipse glasses, it’s so bright that you can barely look at it.

It’s weird to be so disinterested in a phenomenon I won’t have a chance to see again until 2045. It’s just kinda lackluster here compared to the Ring of Fire.
