I vaguely remember the first I heard of stem cells was a decade ago. Some results…

First let me say thank you for sharing this info. I have an acquaintance that is an investor in stem cell research. He has often told me about the potential value it has brought certain clients. But we haven’t talked about it in terms of diabetes. I have not been a T1 as long as some other people on this forum, but if there was a way to get rid of it, using stem cell research, I am the one to go for it. I have only been a type one diabetic for seven years. But I think everyone would agree with me that they would rather have a cure than to have to prolong dealing with these issues. Even if you are the most positive person in the world, diabetes will get to you eventually. At least that has been my experience. But I am always open to finding the cure. Whether it be stem cell research or something else, just give us a cure! Please!

Here’s hoping. It seems odd to me that they chose someone on immunosuppressants when the stem cells are from her own body.

I read the article and now there is real hope.

This happened in Canada too - Dr. James Shapiro.
He grew up in an English town where my Mom grew up!!!

There are also some other examples of this technology being used in the USA. Was so happy to see you referencing the Canadian work being done. Dr. James Shapiro is my hero - and he’s doing this where I live too! He’s such a good man - along with Dr. Peter Senior. Both brits living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!!!
