TB vaccine might work against Type 1 diabetes

Has anyone else heard about this? I read this article about a study being done at Harvard Medical School. They are testing an already known TB vaccine against Type 1 diabetes.

Dr. Faustman at Mass. General is doing human clinical trials with it.

There is a video posted under the video section with an interview of Dr. Faustman that is really interesting. It’s a little long, but very informative.

The video is this one, in case its more convenient:

Hi Melanie,
I wanted to also let you know about the DiabetesWebSearch.com project, so you can help contribute towards Dr. Faustman’s research.

You can read about it here.

Sounds interesting - in the UK we are given the TB vaccine at school following a test for natural immunity. I was told I was naturally immune to TB so didn’t need the injection. Reading this research makes me wish I’d had it now though!!

This article is a great example of exactly why I am so grateful I found TuDiabetes. Thank you Manny for such a great platform for diabetics. I am hopeful (as I have been since March 17th, 1979, when I developed type 1 diabetes). God Bless and keep praying.
