Thiamine deficiency in diabetes

Thiamine deficiency masked by diabetes

This would explain why 'benfotiamine" has had good results in so many diabetics, as it is a synthetic 'fat soluble' form of a normal water soluble vitamin, which prevents the rapid "wash-through" of thiamine via the kidneys in hyperglycemia

I have found benfotiamine to be helpful with peripheral neuropathy. I had tingling in my feet and up thru my ankle ( L). I have been taking benfotiamine for a couple of months and the ankle tingling is gone and the toes do not tingle very much. My doc ( an MD) has a special interest in supplements and vitamins and has studied non-traditional methods of treatment for various diabetic situations.

I am a Type-1.
