Thin Type 2's, I just started a group

Well Michael you inspired me and I did 10 miles today no sweat, it was only 50F here ideal for bicycling.

You look good next to that bike. Forget Oprah you should audition for speedo!!

Go down to south Louisiana or go see your local soulfood restaurant. They will fatten you up…

Linda, Your story is interesting. Did you see a doc when your weight shot up? All this is more than I could have thought when I wrote this blog. Our relationship to weight and insulin is beyond strange and to tell you the honest truth, I’m more confused now than when I started this thing.

Anthony, I’m glad I inspired you but I put the bike back in the basement after my wife took this picture. Truth be told, I do hardly anything to have this body. It comes with the territory.

The soul food thing I’ve got down to an art. The weird part is me fixing my plate. I stack it with all the good stuff and skip the filler. This annoys my relatives but I’m diabetic so what can they say.

PS Guys nearing 60 do not wear speedos.

Well…my doc is a hard one to figure out. I had gone for tests…but my bg was only about 8 or 9 fasting, and the doc was reluctant to attribute it to diabetes. He thought it might be more related to hypoglycemia, as I was prone to lows (still am)…will cut and paste something I posted on another site, to give you a better idea.
And confused…I could write a book on that!!!

This was in answer to someone who did not have a primary care giver, and who also needed to find an endo…Are you looking for a primary care doc. AND an endo? That’s going to be a toughy!! One thought…you could ask a good friend to say a few good words on your behalf to her/his family physician. That’s how we got ours, but that’s about 15 years ago. Friend is a doctor herself (but didn’t have her own practice), and said that he (the dr who was to be ours) “owed her one”!! So, though his was a closed practice, he took our whole family…4 of us at the time. So, rules CAN be broken. Grant you, we didn’t get to choose, but fared off “relatively” well (if you’re a guy). He seems to side with my husbands concerns though, and generally poo poos mine. When I first began seeing him that 15 years ago, he dx pre-diabetes…now, it took everything for him to suggest that it is NOW actual diabetes. His words…"It wont be diabetes till it’s 11 (meaning my fasting bg)…my fasting having been about 9. He had even said at one point …you don’t have diabetes, you don’t even have impaired glucose. Then he caught himself and said “Well, I guess it is impaired”. Since then has referred to it as diabetes only once (I should have taped it!!), but also says "they’re a little high…or a little low (3.8). The point I’m trying to make here, is that I don’t dare challenge him or question him, as I may not be able to find another dr.I have more than diabetes, there’s asthma, Raynaud, hypertension, gallbladder issues, migraines and other “stuff”, and I guess he thinks that either I’m exaggerating, or fabricating, I don’t know…but I don’t see him often, because, well…it’s almost pointless. So, I’m pretty much on my own, even though I do have a primary care doc!!! I’m seeing a naturopath as well. …So there you go Michael!!!

Don’t get me started on Docs and I’ve got two good ones. As far as I know, I’ve never had a hypo. Maybe years ago before my diagnosis but who knows? I’ve heard from other thin diabetics about that as well. Like I say, I don’t get the relationship of weight, diabetes and thinness. This is one of the reasons I wanted to start a forum so we could all share information.

any man that looks as good as you can wear a speedo or anything he wants!!

I urge you to go to Michael’s blog …an post your comments! What’s your perspective on this…was this the case with some of you??? Go to…
