Think Like a Pancreas

This book has been the single most important investment I have made during my diabetic life, besides going to the pump. Its so refreshing to read a book by someone who has been there, done that, that is not written in M.D jargon. If you are on the fence about it, its a great book, and can be had from Amazon for $10. I didnt think I would ever experience a book about Diabetes that I had a hard time putting down, but alas, I have proven myself wrong.

I like it too,one of the best,I like his simple way of delivering information and his sense of humour too, still,it isn’t really enough,if you want something aout pumps, there’s pumping insulin by John Walsh , a definite must read, diabetes for dummies also is very much informative,I really like it too.
so there is no rule on which one is the best,it depends on what you want and how much jargon that you can take

I just looked this book up, and a second edition is being released on Dec. 6, 2011. Looks like a great read!

Thanks for looking that up!

I agree with everyone that TLAP is a fantastic book. Gary Scheiner seems like the sort of author who will likely update the book with relatively up to information so I will watch for reviewers to confirm this but I’d buy another copy if there’s any hint of new goodies inside!

right on. Its still a favorite of mine. I even travel with it because it has so many good charts in the back of it for carb ratio’s etc… Its nice to refer to it while on vacation because my control often gets wacky due to a different diet and everything that comes from being away from home.

I took some long distance training from his company and it went well but I just really couldnt afford it.
I enjoy their newsletters and web site, and will definitely purchase the new edition of the book.

Do you mean the courses at Type1University? I am surprised that you find those courses expensive. The “Live” version where you can ask Gary Scheiner questions is $29.95. If you just want the precorded class, it is $19.95. Taking a diabetes class with a CDE at your local diabetes center is much more expensive by far and they would be unlikely to offer such detailed and competent education.
