We talk a lot about the US FDA in this community. It's the agency in the US that determines when and if new drugs and medical technologies become available to consumers, so we care what they're doing. They can speed up the process to get us better meds, CGMs, pumps etc, faster, and they can also slow it to a crawl.
The US Food and Drug Administration has begun to hold a series of patient meetings to gain a better understanding of specific diseases. Over the next five years, the agency plans to conduct at least 20 such meetings on conditions ranging from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome to Narcolepsy to Irritable Bowel Syndrome.
But not diabetes.
Four “slots” remain open, and we want the FDA to add diabetes to its meeting docket for 2013. Please sign and share this petition urging FDA to hold a patient meeting to better understand diabetes.
