I had a look at your charts, Do you think you need to back your basal back a bit? The midnight to dawn is a drop
Thank you Jack. I’ve looked this over and I agree. I have made some tweaks to my basal which will kick in tonight and I’ll see what happens…though, this morning for some unknown reason I saw my blood sugars rose over night! But they came down in the morning which is a sign my basal rates are quite high at that time as it was enough to take the extra sugar out of my blood.
Thank you for the feedback
I did it overnight last night and it worked well. I woke up at 4.5 (81). Thanks for pointing that out!
I wanted to give an update as I go into my third week of tracking. I am starting to see some positive improvements!
Changes
-
Lowered basal in the morning to stop waking up so low. Worked today. Looking to possible lower daytime amount which means my sensitivity is improving. Starting basal: 19.0. Current basal: 18.10
-
Sensitivity for eating seems to have improved. Starting I:C 1:7. Current I:C 1:18
Yesterday it backfired a bit as I went high when I ate but not by a lot and that seems to be because I ate with a blood sugar that was over 6.7 and didn’t treat that first. -
Correction ration has improved and seems ok right now. Started at 1:3 and 1:3.5 and now I have made it 1:4 which seemed to work yesterday.
Once I correct things more and have 2-3 stable days, I will do a test on a fasting day to see exactly how much my glucose is raised by 3g of sugar and then I will test my correction amount.
More meals below
Lunch = bbq burrito bowl, salad and popcorn
Snack = big raw salad with apple and balsamic glaze
Dinner = leftover from lunch (no popcorn) and 250g of sweet potato
Dessert = 4 mini squares of 100% dark choc (a bit fatty but that seemed to be ok)

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share another update of my progress. This past week I’ve seen some really great changes coming about!
I am finishing my third week of transition and have experienced the following changes in this past week:
- basal has had to go down a lot from 19.0 unit starting to 16.20
- insulin to carb ratio has improved greatly going form 1:7/8 starting to 1:20 now
- correction ratio has gone from 1 unit brings down bg by 3.5 to 4.0
- 30 day average bg has dropped from 7.0 (126) to 6.5 (117)
- 7 day average bg has gone from 7.0 (126) to 5.1 (92)
- My daily average insulin intake has gone from 38.6 units to 32.4 units but I am now eating around 291 g of carbs.
The important things I’ve been finding are the steady exercise which I don’t have to do daily, but by making sure every 2-3 days I’m doing something kind of rigorous, it helps a lot. Time is important to as it wasn’t until this third week that I started to see more lows from my meals meaning my sensitivity was going up. I love eating vegan anyway but being able to have these grains and starchy veges is fantastic.
I hope my sensitivity will continue to improve more as well.

This is great Rose! Thanks for sharing!
I try to use moderation in all things especially food. Otherwise that’s has not been any diet that I can stay on long term. I think I’ve tried everything.
Now I use a moderate carb diet I eat about 100 carbs a day. I eat a lot of green veggies and lean protein. Some days I have meat but most days I have some kind of vegetable protein.
I do consume some oil but not much generally olive oil.
My insulin to carb ratio is 25 most of the time. Exercise will change it drastically so if I exercise before a meal I change that to 45.
I switched to tandem g6 comb about 5 months ago and it has been really good for me.
90 percent in range and good a1c hanging around 6.0. I got a 5.8 my first month which has been the lowest I’ve ever seen.
I guess it depends on the reason you are changing g your diet. Is it because you don’t want to consume meat? Or do you want tighter control, or do you want to lower your insulin intake?
For me it is easy, I just want stable sugars, and good health over all.
I can’t take statins because I have side effects. My cholesterol was 190 this last time and it concerns me, but just one moderately high level is not too much concern. I usually run in the 130s or 140
My hdl is always high 110 this time.
So I’m really not Loki g to change what works for me.
