Tslim "low toner" syndrom

He is coming out of honeymoon, but no, that’s not the cause. Late in day 6 or early in day 7 of using a cartridge the insulin within it loses all potency over the course of a couple of hours.
His correction factor is normally 1:7mmol/L (125) and I’ve given him 4U (over the course of a couple of hours) and his BG just kept climbing. Changed the cartridge and sensitivity returned to normal.

Maybe your information is old. I’m Type 2 and just upgraded the T:Slim X2 software for Control IQ. I had to apply on the Tandem website, my endo had to confirm with a prescription, and then I got a code in email for the download and activation. It’s only been a week so far, but it’s been absolutely spectacular for me! Much better control than I was doing before.

Is the insulin really deactivated at day 6/7? Or is his immune system building fibrins at the set and impeding absorption? It was my understanding that fibrin build up by day 3 is why we are advised to change sites so often.

After noticing my cartridge was “empty” sooner than expected, I started checking how much insulin I could withdraw from the reservoir after I removed it when “0” units were remaining.

I typically find 25 units unused, but sometimes only 20. I do not attempt to use that “wasted” insulin due to concern for contaminating new with old. I suspect this extra insulin assures the pump does not run out of insulin due to tolerances in detecting when the reservoir is empty. Detecting no delivery can takes hours when when only a small basal is being administered.

I have experimented (using water), adding air to the reservoir to see how the pump would respond. It told me I didn’t have the minimum 60 units needed for a new reservoir. I had filled it with around 100 units of water. Removing the added air eliminated that quantity detection error.

I am careful filling the reservoir (except during experimentation) that I do not let air or bubbles remain in the reservoir.

Doing a site change doesn’t seem to help, that’s usually the first thing I try.

I think you may be correct. I am trying to gather responses from Type 2’s using Control IQ. If possible can you post you experiences here. Tandem Control IQ for Type 2s
