Type 1 Diabetes Mortality Rates Dropping

Nice article…

Article a bit consufusing to me. PWDs with Type 1 now only have a five times greater incidence of death than the general population but Type 1 women have a 13 times greater incidence than nondiabetic women? 13 times! Does this mean the decrease in mortality rates drop only for males with Type 1? I would like to know the reasons for the differences between the genders. Would this be related somehow to childbirth? And, if it is, woman should be advised of this. I can’t think of any other difference between the genders. What causes the difference in outcome?
