My doctor is trying me on Phentermine to help my metabolism because I’ve been eating less but still not losing weight. He warned me that I might have to adjust my bolus amounts. I have lowered my carb/insulin ration twice in 3 weeks and am still having lows, even at night when I’m not eating sometimes! I don’t know how this drug does it, but it is lowering my insulin requirement. Anyone else have experience with this drug?
I’m taking phentermine. I’m a type 1 diabetic and have been since I was 6 years old. Before I started taking phentermine I was taking 70 units of long acting insulin and 5 units for every 15 carbs i was also taking the highest dose of Victoza because my cells were not taking in the insulin. The Dr said that I have becom insulin resistance. But now I’m on phentermine my insulin intake has been cut in half I have never been a heavy girl but on this medicine I don’t gain or loose weight. I believe this medicine has helped me bring down my A1C from 13 to 6.3 I’m so glad my Dr prescribed it for me. It has changed my life for the better. I would recommend anyone to try it! phentermine has less side effects than other medicine.
