Type 2

Diagnosed 2 years ago with an A1c of 7.7. Currently 35lbs lighter, 21 BMI and A1c 6.2. I’m 63 fairly healthy man. I take Metformin 500mg 2x/day. My exercise of choice is walking. I’m trying for 10,000 steps a day. Not doing so well right now, the high today was 21* I would rather sweat than shiver.
I’ve been reading a lot of articles on this site lately and I really feel lucky in that I don’t require insulin or any of the other huge inventory of choices of medications.I do feel like, when will the shoe be dropping on me.
I guess I’m looking for a blog that pertains more to me. I have been going the low carb route. That’s how I lost my 35lbs. It isn’t hard so long as I prepare almost all my own food. I can’t fix all my own food during the holidays. I know other people that are diabetics but I feel like I’m the only diabetic that takes any of this seriously. I’m sure I’m not the only one out there that finds themselves in this position. I feel like my dr. is waiting for me to fail so he can fix things with more powerful drugs, in the mean time I’m on my own. My plan is to go rouge for as long as possible. I wonder if anyone else feels this way?

Yes, apart from when I am online I too feel that I am the only diabetic on the planet that eats low carb and exercises religiously. Good luck!

You must not be livign very far from my latitude… It is -3 this morning here:-)

Congrats on losing all the weight on on your last A1C, this is great!

Maybe never! If you keep a good diet and exercise regimen, possibly you will keep away from insulin:-) Or, possibly, you will just need basal - either option great imho.

That;s what we have found as well:( Tough to eat out, isn’t it?

Glenn, my best friend around here is a T2, and he, like many others I know, just doesn’t seem to care about his diet. But, clearly, as you can see on this forum, there are many who are trying hard.

Hope things work out well for you, and that you remain involved here. Maybe you should start that blog that fits your profile:-)

Looking forward to more of your posts!
