I started with a new doctor recently (PA actually) and I liked him right away...maybe because he said "you know more about type 1 than I do"..lol. I just got back my labwork including an A1C of...drumroll please...5.9..yay! The real test will be when I visit him on the 20th to see if I get "the lecture" about lows!
Came to vent about low expectations, too.
My educator keeps saying "You've only been diabetic for one week..." "you've only been diabetic for two weeks..." and just plain out not answering my questions about more techniques to have greater control.
But she's underestimating me. I know she just doesn't want me to have a dangerous low due to messing up... but one of my parents was Type 1. More and more I realize all the things my parents taught me is now so relevant to my life -- and I'm sure that's why they did it. The theory behind it is all second nature to me -- I get it. I just need you to tell me how to do this thing, or when such and such is appropriate. I just need the details that my parents didn't burden me with, while still giving me a good foundation.
I just feel like if there's anyone who can quickly get their BS under control, it's me (not due to any innate quality in me, but just due to how I was raised). So, let me use the gifts that life gave me to prepare me for this.

Thanks! I'd gone up to 6.7 and while that didn't freak me out I am very glad to be back in the 5's!
