kind of like my endo tells me not to increase my Lantus when my BGs show I need to. I smile and nod and increase the Lantus anyway. She's happy with the numbers but has no idea how I got them
I have to wonder WHY we have to deceive our professionals as many have said they do, why can't we be open and honest with them, about how WE are treating OUR "D"? It somehow seems like, I don't want to say wrong, like bad, but wrong that we should have to do this inorder to get the best treatment for ourselves. Don't we go to them because they are the ones who are supposed to know the disease and have the newest and best accepted treatments....shouldn't we be able to talk with them in a honest and logical fashion. What is wrong with the system that we can't do that? Would we have to do the same thing if we had heart failure, needed a transplant, brain surgery? Why is it that diseases like ours and others aren't capable of being treated by both the professional and the person who has it. Am I too much of an idealist to think it should be this way but why isn't it?
Because when I followed the diet I was given my CDE complained bitterly about my6 high bsgs and I got upset and refused to go see him. I surmise now he thought I was telling lies about following my diet. In fact it seems to me that T2s are not believed whatever they say, so why not get the good numbers and evade direct questions on how we got there. Maureen
If your not going to fallow their instructions....DROP OUT OF THE STUDY...your just adding
none compliance to the study numbers. I'm 62 and believe it or not I have pretty much figured out how I'm going to live and deal with my Diabetes...yes I have my very own personal copy of Diabetes.
I hope you don't think I'm being mean...just get on with your life...If you have found something that works...hang on to it...and smile...:-)
I agree. I certainly sympathize with and agree with not allowing white coats to determine our care when we are doing fine managing it ourselves. However, a study is a study and requires clean data, meaning the old "smile and nod" (and do what you please) is defeating the purpose of the study. I see it as comply for the duration of the study and get the payment and/or reap the rewards of contributing to the D knowledge, or else let someone know the reason and quit and get on with your life.
Zoe, please read above. Nothing irritates me more than not being heard or read correctly. So please forgive me if I appear gruff, BUT, my eating or not eating the dietician's number of carbs a day has NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING to do with the study. Please find my post above here, to see what the study is about....nothing to do with food, Thanks for your support.
