Weight loss

I know this will be very normal for all of you and you all must have replied to these kind of posts earlier also . But any one kindly tell me how to increase my body weight when i am suffereing for type 1 diabetics and also dont want todo much use of insulin intake from outside. And also is whey protein is the only way to increase your muscle mass. As i am very passionate about body building and I even have a business of Health Club here at my place . My current age is 28. Also please help me with amount of protein I can take daily or there is any otherbetter protein for muscle gain .

Hello,

I can’t help with the body builiding but I’ve used nuts to put on weight without greatly increasing my insulin use. I eat about 62 grams of peanut butter with breakfast and use sunflower seeds on my salads for lunch and eat almonds as my default snack.

While I don’t subscribe to the eat whatever you want and just shoot more and more insulin school of thought, I also don’t think there is any great reward in minimizing insulin use unless you have problems with insulin resistance.

Gaining weight is easy, but as you note you really want to gain lean body mass (mostly muscle). The best way to do that is to consume plenty of protein and do strength training. I like whey protein (made from milk) mixed with milk. You can easily get an extra 25-30 g of protein with each serving. More advanced bodybuilding mixes other proteins (like casein mentioned above).

Creatine has been widely studied and is quite safe, even for high school athletes. At normal doses (5g/day) the only side effects are that you gain weight (by retaining more water in your muscles). There are some minor claims, but none of those have been substantiated in particular despite millions who have taken creatine. Creatine is a naturally occuring substance (you usually get it from meat) which helps improve the ATP energy path related to muscle activation.

i tried with creatine ,glutamine, whey mixture .But it has shotted my sugar level to high extent. Also only whey or creatine is also increasing my sugar level. SO kindly advise what should i do and what is the quantity i should take.

thanksforreply.BUt these things are increasing my gulucose levels to high extent. So what could be the advisable quantities.

You have to balance the carb intake and the amount of insulin, sometimes making adjustments for the amount of exercise you are doing? I am not totally serious about weightlifting but I run a lot and lift a couple of days/ week. The balance thing is the most important part if you have diabetes. There’s also evidence that protein converts to carbohydrates at a rate somewhere around 53% but it might vary from person to person but there’s a group callled TAG (total available glucose) where that is discussed more?
