Wheat Free Diet,anyone?

Has anyone with type 2,stopped eating any wheat products?Like breads, cereals, things of this nature.I have read on other sites, that alot of ppl that are not a diabetic have tried this, and say it works for them.Loosing weight, not sluggish anymore, more energy!

Anyone please give your comments or advice on this.I am thinking,of doing this, stop eating breads, potatoes, certain pastas.

I have T2 and I eat carb restricted, about 100 carbs a day. No wheat, potatoes, pasta, rice, etc. This plus exercise help keep my blood sugars at a reasonable level. I eat more green vegetables with my meat or fish to fill me up.

I'm T2 also, basically I'm the same as Pastelpainter. The common denominator for the foods I restrict is nothing starchy, my list is the same as Pastelpainter's plus no beans, no winter squash except spaghetti squash. So I eat mostly meat, fish, non starchy veggies, nuts and cheese(straight milk has too many carbs). The reason this is helpful is that starch very quickly turns to sugar and is then quickly absorbed by your body. You might want to check out the "How to lower your blood sugar" section on the bloodsugar101 website. It explains the "eat to your meter" system so you can discover which foods are causing you problems. This is the single most important thing I learned after diagnosis.

I gave up all grains for a few months--wheat, barley, rye, rice, etc. It worked pretty well for my BG levels, and since I've been on Metformin I've found that I could avoid spikes almost altogether if I don't eat those foods. Of course, easier said than done, but it does make weight loss easier.

Also, I haven't eaten white potatoes in...forever. They're about a step away from white sugar.

i havent eaten alot of potatoes either, but, what bout sweet potatoes?

good idea!!!!i have been trying to eat alot dark greenies, like spinach, kale, green beans, romaine lettuce, cucumbers.rice, potatoes,we hardly touch.ty for ur valuable input.

i do not drink milk anymore,i love it,but i have found,it raises my blood sugar high, and fast!i have switched to unsweetened almond milk, and it doesnt spike my levels up!

how do i cook curry?

CALily, you have to test to see if sweet potato makes your bsg spike. Everyone is different.

I use unsweetened almond milk too, it's also low calorie.
