Will lipodystrophy(bumps from sites/cgm) go away? Or will I never be able to inject in that spot again?

I am getting some major bumps left from my CGM sensor. It seems to be scarring my stomach and also when you feel the skin it feels like a bump. Do these ever go away? Yes, they’re ugly, but I am more concerned I will run out of space. I have one that was really bad a few weeks ago and now it looks like a scar.

Some people scar more easily or worse than others. You should probably consult a dermatologist on this subject. It might also be an allergic reaction.

I sometimes get bumps, but they always go away. Your mileage may varry.

If it’s from a CGM it’s not lipdystrophy, it’s just scar tissue. Lipodystrophy is a result of injecting insulin into the same spot and having the adipocytes swell. When you pull your sensor try putting a bandaid with triple antibiotic ointment over the area. Also use “pregnant belly” lotion which helps to reduce scar tissue. The last thing is massage. Massage the areas vigorously to try and break up the scar tissue.

I get these from the CGM too…little red hard spots, but they do heal. I don’t even really think of it as scar tissue, but just irritation which goes away with time. It takes some time but the do heal. I leave it on for no more that 6 days and then move it, and rotate sides of my stomach. Right now I am wearing my pump on my back so more space is free on my stomach and sides for the CGM.

Thanks for clarifying! I was thinking of trying some sort of ointment. Do you know is Mederma (for scars) works?

Thanks!

That makes me feel better that they do heal!

I don’t know which one is best. You’re just trying to disrupt the collagen that is causing the scarring so I bet it would work.
