Zetia and it’s generic

A few months ago I tried taking the generic form of Zetia. I had never experienced neuropathy during my 60 yrs living with type 1 until I tried this drug.

Finally one night when my feet were burning, I thought about any changes I had made in my care and realized the only change was adding Zetia. I got out of bed and googled Zetia’s possible side effects. I was very happy to see neuropathy listed. Almost as soon as I stopped the drug, my feet were back to normal.

My heart goes out to anyone suffering with neuropathy. I hope that this post helps someone.

Oh my gosh Marilyn! I am a Type 1 diabetic for 60 years also. I am on Zetia to lower my LDL cholesterol since I can’t take any kind of statin. I have burning in my feet when I walk more than a mile but I’ve had that BEFORE starting Zetia. Good to know that that is a side effect though.
Thanks,
Jane

Hello fellow very long term type 1. I can’t take full dose statins, but a member here said that they are taking the generic Crestor 10mgs twice a week. That is what I asked my doctor for. So far so good, but I haven’t had my liver enzymes tested yet.

So sorry that Zetia isn’t the cause of your neuropathy.
