Still getting very accurate reading on my 4th week. Whats the best mileage you'll have got ??
I haven't been on it long, but I finished 4 weeks on my last one. Seems to me that the key is to keep it covered with some other tape, so that the Dexcom tape doesn't come up on the edges and so that it doesn't latch on to something. I use 2 pieces of hypafix tape rounded on the edges, and then I have them meet in the middle. After a week or so I can change them by pulling them outward without putting stress on the dexcom tape. I also use Skin Tac as needed.
Best I've gotten is 14-18 days. Even if the tape holds up, I thought that the enzyme that's on the sensor tip would expire before the fourth week. That's amazing!
I'll often terminate a session when I get the dreaded ??? more than once.
If the sensor and tape is covered and skin tac is used to glue it down on the rare occasion it comes up, then for me the tape and sensor remain in almost new condition for 4 weeks. The transmitter doesn't catch on things (yanking it out or causing irritation) either. Then by using 2 pieces of tape, you can 'change the dressing over the dexcom by pulling each tape out towards the edges from the center. Admittedly, I'm not doing aggressive exercise daily, but everything stayed very clean for me. Also, the skin tac seems to go permeate through the tape, so putting some on top of the dexcom tape seemed to work.
I don't think the enzyme is the problem, but rather movement of the sensor needle thing. Again, the manufacturer and FDA do not condone this.
