For years I’ve been using Lilly’s Humulin R for high protein meals. Just now my drug plan decided to stop covering it and switched me to Novolin R, the Novo Nordisk equivalent.
Just from curiosity I checked with the pharmacy. The retail price of Humulin R is around $160. The Walmart generic equivalent (which is just Novolin R with different packaging) is available over the counter, no scrip, for $25.
Golly. Do you think there might be some price distortions in the pharma industry?
